Well lads been a while since I had put to write about in here, been very frustrating this year with me doing ten nights for only one fish I was started to think the carp gods were against me.
But after my daughter let me have a night of this weekend I was split between going to my new club water in Bradford or my local lake newbridge a quick look at the weather showed I had an hour before hurricane almighty hit me so I chose newbridge.
When I got there i was going to go for a walk round but as I walked on to the first free peg I saw ten to fifteen ghosties and commons swimming less then a rod length out and with 30mph warm South easterly blowing straight in my peg I had my rods out less then s rod length out in less then half an hour.
I quickly got my new fox supa brolly up and got me tea on and midway through eating it I was rudely interrupted by a flying Scotsman ghost carp, I've seriously in all my time fishing have never ever had a run like it took me 80 yds in less then five seconds it was so angry chicken curry went everywere and sprinted out Into the gale force wind and rain and struck into the train after ten minutes nervously playing it through every snag in lake I finally netted a mid double ghostie, not the biggest by a long shot but after four straight blank on trot this fish had me shaking I was that releived to have it.
And here she is in all her glory lovely dark orange ghostie...
Absolutely stunning fish I put her back and stuck my rod back on the money and tried savouring my now freezing curry and trying to dry of I stuck holly oaks on and cracked open a well deserved strongbow and things went quiet for about an hour when boom right hand rod hurtled of again but this fish went deep deep into snags and hand me wrapped round every tree in my swim a quick call to the owner and he was out in rowing boat trying to free the fish and snap fish got away took everything felt like giving up and going home was now dark pissing down and hurricane winds was trying to blow bivvy away.
But undeterred I set back up and got in bed to watch taken 3 when the same rod ripped of again this a bream .
After that virtually quiet all night barring me having to put front and storm poles on bivvy was rough as toast last night let me tell you everything I had in bivvy was soaking wet it realy wasn't nice.
Then around 3 am I had a drop back then a half hearted take but I was too slow on getting to my ride so another lost fishi wasn't happy and at 7 am I decided to call it quits happy I caught but gutted I lost fish but eh well roll on France...
My view this morning before round two of hurricane katrina
