I was talking to the fulla yesterday about the quality of club waters and how they are going down the pan in recent years. I've been pondering jacking in both Leeds and Bradford club waters next year due to this and was wondering if anyone else has similar thoughts? 20 years ago I used to fish both Knotford pits and the fishing was great but now both pits are not a patch on what they were. Why have these waters been left to run down as in stock levels? Wheres the money going? When they netted Sandwath (Leeds water) at church fenton a few years ago there was half a dustbin full of fish from the whole lake! so if this is typical of club waters we are not getting what we pay for are we? Anyway, next year its well run commercials I'll be fishing I think and bollox to the clubs
I've quietly observed No.1 in particular over the past few months and i've actually been impressed by the quality of fish coming out of certain venues, to those that fish them regularly. I'm lead to believe by the lads that fish it and catch regular (Such as Jimmy), Knotford has hundreds of Carp in and their catch reports of multiple fish in a session would concur with this. Might not be 'easy', but they certainly seem catchable. I also like that they have at least put some money and effort in to Otter Fencing some venues, which doesn't come cheap. I was very impressed by the Fence at KL when i saw it the other week.
To be fair gazza hull and district have spent a hell of a lot of money protecting there waters albeit maybe abit to late for some waters but re stocking programmes are going on and there have been a lot of fish been restocked give them 5-10 years and they should be back to there former glory especially motorway pond. also the brough complex has had some amazing catches this year including a fair few 30 poulf carp 10 tench cant commment on the Leeds/bradford waters though
forum top rod (better then Jimmy small fish fulla shit!)

Hull has always been a cut above the rest as far as club waters are concerned but having never fished any of their waters I cant really comment on any demise there. I should have clarified a bit better really that my basis of this thread was waters run by Leeds and Bradford clubs.
The membership of No:1 now is buy the book and your in the club, that wasn't the case 25 years ago when there was a 4 year waiting list to get in. That speaks volumes in itself. Sad really because the club should have been getting better and better but myself and others think its gone the other way for whatever reason.

25 years ago there wasn't Day Ticket Commercials left right and center, more lads were Coarse Anglers or Match men who attended club matches on rivers or canals and Carpers were much thinner on the ground because Carp were only found in certain places and many of those would have been quite exclusive, or hush hush. Commercialism in both fisheries and fishing itself, i.e. with tackle companies and so on, is probably the biggest contributing factor to what you are getting at Gazza.
I mean i'm only 23 and i can only comment on the last 10 years, since i took up angling, but the older lads on here and that i know will tell you how things have all changed massively.
